faq Terms of Enrolment - Overview♪ Fees are to be paid per term in full ♪ No refunds are given for missed lessons ♪ Enrolment is ongoing and to cancel tuition you must advise administration in writing four weeks prior to the final lesson. Enrolling for Tuition The Inner West Music College operates on a 4 Term year and follows the same holidays as the NSW State Public School calendar. Before tuition can begin, you must complete an Enrolment Form. This is valid for the period when attending lessons at the Inner West Music College. Please advise us if contact details change at any time so we can maintain efficient communication. 2011 Term Fees - based on 10 week term ½ Hour $330 Inc. GST ¾ Hour $495 Inc. GST 1 Hour $660 Inc. GST Additional costs are involved for music books, examination and competition entries, school holiday workshops etc. Discounts A discount of 10% is provided for the second and subsequent members of a family enrolled for individual tuition, or any student who enrolls for a second or subsequent instrument. 2012 Term Dates 2012 Term 1: 23 Jan – 5 Apr (11 weeks) 2012 Term 2: 23 Apr – 30 Jun (10 weeks) 2012 Term 3: 16 Jul – 22 Sep (10 weeks) 2012 Term 4: 8 Oct – 21 Dec (11 weeks) Lessons will NOT be held on State and National Public Holidays but they WILL be held on a ‘Pupil Free Day’. Students who have their lessons scheduled for a Public Holiday date will not be invoiced for them. Missed Lessons All fees are charged on a ‘per term' basis and NO REFUNDS will be given for missed lessons. Fees are to be paid for the days that the student is enrolled for tuition, including periods of non-attendance such as illness and school excursions. Please consider your account as a booking fee, not an attendance fee. In the event of sickness 24 hours notice must be provided for a make-up lesson to be organized and two weeks notice for a planned event such as a school excursion or camp. The Inner West Music College reserves the right to refuse to teach students who come to their lesson sick. Students will still be charged for these lessons. In the event of a teachers absence, a substitute teacher may take their place or the lesson will be credited if a make-up lesson is not available. However, please note that teachers are not obliged to make up lessons cancelled by the student. Music It is the responsibility of the student to provide the relevant music books and resources necessary for study. Most books are available for purchase from the Inner West Music College or the local music store. Books provided by the Inner West Music College are to be paid for at the front desk before they are taken home. Cancelling Tuition If you wish to cancel tuition, you must advise administration in writing four weeks prior to ceasing lessons. Please note that you will be responsible for paying for those four weeks of tuition in which the student is enrolled. Non-attendance does not indicate formal cancellation of enrolment. Accounts Tuition accounts are issued at the commencement of each term. Students who enroll during the term are invoiced only for the remaining weeks of the term in which they commence. Payment of accounts is due by the end of the first week of term. If tuition fees are not paid by the due date tuition may be withdrawn. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or Electronic Funds Transfer. Bad Debts Fees are due within the first week of each term. Enrolment by the College is subject to cancellation in the event of late payment of fees. Concerts and Workshops The Inner West Music College holds an annual Christmas Concert where all students are invited to perform and families and friends are invited to join the audience. Aural, Theory and HSC workshops are held at the College throughout the year preparing students for examinations and to assist establishing sound musicological foundations. All students are encouraged to attend these workshops to further their musical education. Students do not have to be enrolled in an examination to attend. Information about workshop dates and times will be issued by teachers throughout the year. Examinations and Eisteddfods Taking an examination and entering eisteddfods and competitions is not compulsory, and is always done in consultation between the teacher, student and parents. Examinations by the AMEB are held at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music or the AMEB office at Clarence Street Sydney. Exams for the Sydney Inner West District are scheduled for every May and October. The teacher entering the student can request a preferred date and time, yet these are subject to availability and the final decision is made by the State AMEB Head Office. The Inner West Music College will not enter in students who are not ready. The Inner West Music College stresses that all students can still progress and improve their musical ability without taking an examination. Child Protection All staff are screened as required by the NSW government ‘Working With Children’ legislation. Teachers always endeavor to provide a safe and happy environment for students. Please be aware that, for the purpose of monitoring/refining technique, the teachers may need to assist students with their approach to the instrument. Therefore teachers may require some contact particularly in relation to shoulders and arms. Supervision The Inner West Music College (including teaching staff) takes no responsibility for the supervision of students outside of scheduled lesson and rehearsal times. Parents/Guardians who enroll students acknowledge that it is their responsibility to deliver and collect the individual for the appointed lesson and rehearsal time and ensure that their child is at all times well behaved, polite and courteous. |
