Student Responsibilites

The student agrees to arrive at each lesson punctually, well prepared, and with all necessary materials. In order to progress satisfactorily, FULL practice is necessary and required. FULL practice consists of six days of practice each week and completion of homework and assignments as per the teacher's instruction.

Parental Responsibilities

Parents are welcome to attend lessons at any time. Support is a must for a child's musical growth. To help your child develop self-discipline and good practice habits, set aside a regular time for practice each day (this can be done all at once or divided into two or more daily practice sessions). Younger children especially need help with their practicing. Parents must provide an instrument in the best possible condition, a metronome, and a place in the home allowing quiet and uninterrupted practice. Be helpful, interested and supportive!

Teacher Repsonsibilities

The teachers will provide a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere for learning. They will continue to further their teaching skills and music knowledge by belonging to professional organizations, attending workshops, reading professional publications, and engaging in other activities leading to professional growth.

Lesson Fees

All lessons are provided on a one to one basis for the fee of $30 per half an hour and $60 per one hour. Textbooks, metronomes and other resources are in addition to the tuition fees.

Billing/Payment

Tuition is paid for by the term, usually consisting of 10 weeks. College term periods coincide with NSW Public School terms.

Fees are due to be paid within the first two weeks of the term beginning. Tuition fees are non-refundable. Each student is scheduled for a specific weekly time slot. Your payment reserves that time slot.

Missed Lessons

Make up credit lessons will only be offered to students who give at least one weeks notice for planned events (such as holidays or school camps), and 24 hours notice for illnesses.

Students who give less than 24 hours notice or miss scheduled lessons will not be offered make up times.

Lessons are at a specific time each week and students are expected to attend at the scheduled time.

Punctuality

Please be on time. If a student arrives late, they will finish only the balance of their scheduled lesson time, and the lesson will not go over time, as it will interfere with the next students scheduled lesson time.

School Holidays

Lessons may be held during the school holidays at students request, yet this is at the discretion of the teacher’s availability. The cancellation policy noted above is still applicable.

Performance

There are several opportunities for students to perform during the year. All students are encouraged to attend and perform. Out of courtesy to the other performers at these events, please plan to stay for the entire recital. It shows great respect to the dedication of all performers to listen to the achievements of others.

Examinations

All teachers are registered with the Australian Music Examination Board and can enter students for performance, theory, musicianship and music craft exams.

Special entries for exams with other examination boards including Trinity, ABRSM and ANZCA can be organised by each teacher. Exams are optional for each student.
