Solomon Steele – BMus (Current)

Solomon Steele is a professional musician and experienced guitarist, songwriter, and educator. He’s a guitarist known for his melodic phrasing and stylistic versatility. In a week he can be seen performing with folk singer songwriters, jangly indie rockers, experimental and ambient projects, blues pub gigs, jazz gigs, and classical recitals. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Australian Institute of Music, under guitarists and music educators including Mark Johns and Jeremy Sawkins.
Solomon’s freelance personal credits include his work as a writer, guitarist, and vocalist for the indie folk band ‘Heirs’, who released their debut album ‘The Thick Of It’ in May last year, following it up with an interstate tour through 10 locations in NSW, Victoria, and the ACT. Heirs also have a sophomore album written and recorded, Due to be released in early 2021. He’s also worked as a session guitarist for Jenny Denny Music, who has released a single ‘The Other Side’ from her forthcoming EP ‘Sad Songs From A Happy Life’, as well as recording, producing, and performing for Gracie Jean Music, on her debut EP ‘Romance is Bad’, and session guitarist for the Album’ ‘Lord of All’ by Village Music. Solomon is also the frontman of an indie rock band, who have their debut Album due to be released early 2021.
On top of this, Solomon works as a live performer in a number of projects, including the Ambient Guitar Duo ‘Dr Blinky’, the Pub Rock band ‘Fence Sitter’, and Sydney’s Premier Coldplay tribute band ‘Death’s Friends’.
Solomon has also been working as a guitar teacher consistently since he was in late high school, teaching one-on-one guitar lessons, group lessons, and rock band ensembles. Working closely with students of all ages and development levels.
As a teacher, Solomon places important emphasis on music as a powerful tool for self expression and discovery. In this, he sees his role to empower students to find their personal voice on their chosen instrument, motivating and inspiring students to follow their passions in music, while supporting that passion with a deep foundational understanding of the concepts of music, and the fundamentals of the guitar tradition.
